My First Exchange

I don't have time to write an email this week but wanted to say hello real fast! I had exchanges with my STL's and it was much needed. I cried. A lot haha. But I'm doing much better! Love them and love this work!

Charity Never Faileth

Happy Valentines Day loves!

Today is a wonderful reminder of the commandment we've all been given, "...That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:34–35).

I have been praying for and studying charity these past few days and it has been amazing to see that gift more in my life. One night this week, we had a few minutes left before we were to go home for the day. We decided to walk to the bus stop and talk to the people waiting there. There was about 5 people sitting on the benches and they all seemed curious to hear what our message was. Sister Juber and I began talking to one and when they were not interested, we'd turn to the next person. Then two people at the same time wanted to hear so still standing next to each other, Sister Juber took one and I started talking to the other. It was actually kind of nerve-racking because I had no clue what to say to him haha. But I opened my mouth and trusted that the Lord would help me say what this homeless looking man needed to hear (not to judge his appearance, just wanted you all to envision what was happening haha). He ended up not being interested either but it was a good learning experience for me!

We walk around the streets late at night and talk to people who I would've been so scared to talk to before the mission, but now, I just feel so much love for them! I want to share the gospel with everyone because I know it will bless their lives so much! The light of Christ changes people. I know and can SEE how keeping the commandments truly blesses you.

Update on our friend from last week: we came back for the follow up lesson and checked in with our invitation to live the Word of Wisdom, she goes, "You know, I think God is trying to tell me something. After my meeting with you last week, I went to another appointment and they told me I have to stop doing [WOW]. So I guess I won't be doing it anymore." Are you kidding?! Heavenly Father is definitely reaching out to our girl Tatiana.

This week has been really great and we've been teaching so many people!!! It's amazing! My testimony continues to grow and I am so thankful.

God loves you! I love you!

Love,

Sister Coon

Arriving in the Mission

 HELLO EVERYONE!

This is my first official weekly email home from the mission! The mission is awesome and I am so excited to be here. I just want to get to work!! I love the people and love what I am doing. It has been a little hard adjusting and missing home, sometimes I just want to cry lol. It's definitely hard being away from family! But other than that, I'm doing great :)

My first lesson I ever had was pretty epic. We were in the poorest apartment complex in my area, Harmon Hills with our friend, Tatiana. When we got to her door, the lights were all off and it looked like no one was home. We knocked a few times but no luck. So we gave her a call and she said she was in the bathroom but will be out in a minute. After a few seconds of waiting, she opens the door and this cloud of smoke billows out. She was definitely not going to the bathroom but doing some Word of Wisdom things. It felt like a scene from a movie as we walked into this dark apartment. These two representatives of the Lord trying to dispel Satan. Then right there, we taught Tatiana about the Word of Wisdom and invited her to change her life. It was awesome. A very memorable first lesson. Missionary work is awesome!

Love and miss you all!

SISTER COON!

Annie made it safely after flying for 1 hour and 5 minutes. Because of the time change they are 1 hour behind us. She left at 8:45am and arrived at 8:50am in Nevada..
