Hard weeks are SO GOOD

Hello everyone!!

Welcome back to another week in the life of Sister Coon! This week was a harder one. There weren't very many people that wanted to listen to us- or even were outside to talk to, we've been trying really hard to work with the ward but it's just not there yet, and it was just pretty exhausting. But as always, sooooo good. Every night and through out the day, Sister Hildebrandt and I would hit our knees and plead with the Lord for mercy and guidance. And finally Saturday came and we saw so many wonderful miracles!!!

☆ The first one was Paul! Sunday night last week, with about 30 minutes left of Sister B's mission, we went to this neighborhood, said a prayer, and asked Heavenly Father to lead us to houses that we should knock (we figured if no one was outside for us to talk to, we'll have to come to them!) We ran from house to house trying to find those elect souls. It was so fun. The very last house we knocked on was Paul's! At 8:50 at night, he answered the door and said that he would be interested in hearing our message. We gave him a Book of Mormon and set up a time to come back.

Saturday comes around and he meets us at his driveway, pulls out a camping chair to sit on for himself, and starts asking us questions about why the judges stopped their reign in the book of Helaman. The most random question but we were so happy he was reading and comprehending! Then we gave our recent convert, Heather a call and she invited him to church and offered a ride! It was so good! AND HE CAME AND LOVED IT!!! Said he'll be back next week. YAY!

☆ Right after that lesson, we had a lesson with this guy named Sean, another person we met doing inspired knocking. Flash back to Sunday night, he had opened the door and immediately recognized us as servants of the Lord. Said he was trying to leave his religion and would love to meet with us but not right then (makes sense, it was pretty late). So we met Saturday and had an AMAZING lesson! After answering a few of his questions, he goes, "okay, I'm interested in joining your church. What would be my next steps?" WHAT??! Talk about prepared. We invited him to prepare to be baptized and he said he would!

☆ Last but not least, Kandice! We had another lesson with her and it was the best one yet. She is still preparing for baptism but is really sad to give up this one Word of Wisdom thing (mind you, this is our third lesson and we haven't even taught the WOW yet). Our fellowship was just incredible and goes, "Kandice, I LOVE my diet Pepsi. I get the large size every single day and I have a huge stock in my garage. But I will make you a deal. (She starts getting all teary eyed) If you give up (WOW), I will give up my diet Pepsi and we can do this together." Ahhh it was glorious!!! Member support is THE best! And now Kandice has a friend to help her along this journey. Heavenly Father is so good and it's so special to see Him preparing so many people.

Please pray for these friends! Satan is fighting so hard to get them to stray away. But I know and I have seen how much this will bless their lives. Even though it was a harder week, I'm so grateful for it. Hard weeks give us the chance to really utilize the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

1 Nephi 7:17-18
"But it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord, saying: O Lord, according to my faith which is in thee, wilt thou deliver me from the hands of my brethren; yea, even give me strength that I may burst these bands with which I am bound.

And it came to pass that when I had said these words, behold, the bands were loosed from off my hands and feet, and I stood before my brethren, and I spake unto them again"

The Lord may not answer our prayers in the way we are expecting- Nephi asked to burst the bands and they were just loosed- but as we righteously plead for help, He will give us the strength we need in the moment we need it. Keep turning to Him. I know He is there and can give you the help you need in the moment you need it. I felt that this week. He is so good!

I love you all ♡ Make this week a Christ filled one!!!

A Week of Quarantine

HELLO!!!

I'M ALIVE AND DOING WELL! It's our first day out of quarantine and let me tell you, it feels SO good to be out haha!! Last Monday we thought we only had to quarantine for 5 days because I tested positive for covid but turns out it was actually 7. Yikes. That's a long time haha. But it actually wasn't that bad, thank goodness. We stayed very busy with lots of zoom lessons and phone calls. When I say the Lord is hastening His work that still includes when we are stuck inside!

☆ We were able to give 3 soft baptismal invites ("As the Lord answers your prayers and you feel that this message is true, will you follow the example of Jesus Christ by being baptized?”) and every one of them said yes! So that was so exciting!

☆ We had our 2 recent converts, Heather and her son Kaylon, fellowship a lesson and they were THE BEST missionaries. The day before, we had just retaught Kaylon the Plan of Salvation so during the lesson, we asked him to say the opening prayer. He went, "...please help me on my journey to the spirit world. In Jesus name, amen." MELT MY HEART!! It was the most precious prayer I've ever heard. I just love him!!!

☆ Sadly, we had to take Jamaal and his family off date:( They hadn't really responded to us this week and we haven't been able to have a lesson with them. But they will get back soon! Keep praying for them!

I love you all! Hope you have a wonderful week!

2 Nephi 7:7-9

"For the Lord God will help me, therefore shall I not be confounded. Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
And the Lord is near, and he justifieth me. Who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is mine adversary? Let him come near me, and I will smite him with the strength of my mouth.
For the Lord God will help me..."

So grateful for the Lord. I know this is His work and I am just here to help. It doesn't just stop when we get sick. He loves you! Keep being amazing!

Love,

Sister Coon
